Even before 3D printing and wind tunnel simulations were a thing, 80s-era Stuttgart had pretty much stumbled onto the ideal race-winning shape. That s not to say there wasn t still prototyping going on. The extensive engine and chassis experiments over the years were just happening beneath the vibrantly-liveried skin.
